How it came together
The setup
Stores were stitching POS, stock, and HR together with exports and emails. Inventory drifted between branches and Shopify, and nobody trusted the numbers.
The challenge
Make one app the source of truth across the floor, the warehouse, and HR, without slowing down checkout.
Scale
Multi-branch retail, full Shopify catalog, daily sales + procurement traffic.
The hard parts
Non-negotiables
- Shopify must stay in lockstep
- Loyalty discounts at the register
- Procurement and HR data accurate enough for payroll
Trade-offs we made
- Picked Zustand over a heavier state library. Fewer abstractions for a team that hires for product, not framework trivia.
- Shopify integration is one-way for now. Two-way is a year-two problem.
